What's a Vocation?

A vocation is a call from God. You may be called to the vocations of vowed religious life, single life or married life. Each of these, while distinct in their qualities, is important to fostering your individual relationship with God.

Those called to vowed religious life profess these vows and give their lives to the service of Christ on a daily basis. Their lives are centered in prayer, community and faith. These individuals are often called to live Christian lives in a community of individuals who share and foster this commitment in their lives.

Those called to single life are called to profess the love of God to those with whom they come into contact. They do not profess the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, but are still called to live Christian lives.

Those called to married life are often also called to become parents. In this way they are called to foster Christian values in their children and families. They are also called to be supportive of their spouse and his/her individual Christian life.
